SEO Philippines: Make It or Break It

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a young yet promising industry exponentially thriving not just in the Philippines but in other countries as well. SEO can either make or break a company’s online standing; therefore, companies should deliberately reflect on their SEO’s strategies capabilities before fully outsourcing their SEO undertakings. Ranking a website high on the search engine results pages is not a one day process; it may take a couple of weeks, months or even longer depending on the methods used and expertise of your SEO practitioners.

Google is the biggest player among various search engines. Their share of the internet traffic is 6%, this is enormously higher compared to other search engines across the World Wide Web. The influence of Google stretches so vastly that in order to grow well in the field of SEO, one must consider all the drama and mood swings Google goes through in reformulating its search algorithms, which change from time to time. The good thing is that Google provides an array of tools which serves as the lifeblood of the SEO. Recently, Google launched the new version of Google Penguin which is basically a public algorithm update (unlike PageRank) that aims to, if not totally eradicate, at least decrease the rankings of the websites that violate Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. Such practices that infringe on the said guidelines are called Black-hat SEO techniques; including, keyword stuffing, cloaking, participating in link schemes, deliberate creation of duplicate content to increase backlinks, among many others.

SEO specialists fear that search engine algorithms are becoming more complex. And on the other hand, search engines just want to communicate that it is important to build a good website, provide good content with high end-user value for these to be more relevant to visitors. But the truth is that visitors do not miraculously come without the help of effective and well organized promotional activities. A number of websites gradually died due to lack of promotion – and this is where SEO put its foot forward as it has showed a high return of investment compared to any other marketing channels.

In summary, using search engine friendly SEO techniques and having a well-tailored website combined with excellent advertising tactics can shoot the company’s reputation up on the podium. Do the opposite and you will find your website’s rankings rotting on the search engine sewers. Although the never ending changes on the algorithms pose a threat against these online activities, being open and adaptive to changes can somehow define success on the field of search engine optimization.
