Forward Solutions talks about the PhilMet website in MIRDC’s Metals and Engineering Week 2014
October 20, 2017
It has been yet another successful year for the Metal Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC), the agency mandated to provide management and technical consultancy for the Philippine metals industry. With every third week of June being the Metals and Engineering week in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 144, this year marks MIRDC’s 48thFounding Anniversary. To celebrate, MIRDC held a week-long series of events starting from June 16 to 20, 2014. These events include the launch of various facilities and technologies, conferences attended by industry influencers, seminars, an open house, and ended with a masquerade ball for its employees.
On the second day of the celebration, June 17, 2014, MIRDC partnered with the Aerospace Industries Association of the Philippines (AIAP) and held an Industry Dialogue at the MIRDC Auditorium entitled: The Philippine Aerospace Industries: Overview and Prospects. The dialogue ran from 8AM to 5PM, and speakers were high ranking officers of Department of Science and Technology, OST, MIRDC, AIAP, Moog Controls Corp. and our very own CEO, Mr. Marc-Olivier Caillot. Mr. Caillot discussed Forward Solutions’ brief partnership with MIRDC in developing the Philippine Metalworking Website (PhilMet Website).
“Having a company website is a really good thing to have, but if you can gather all companies in one simple hub, you get more exposure and increased visibility on search engines where the most potential buyers search for companies are,” said Caillot. Today, 5 out of 10 business buyers have already purchased goods online. It is forecasted that almost 40% expect to spend bigger portions of their annual procurement budgets online next year. Many are even starting to consider ordering online or increase their online spending if it were easier and more convenient to browse and make B2B purchases.
The PhilMet website’s significant role is to help companies in the Philippines increase sales and make communication between companies and clients abroad easier. The website’s advanced search features allow users to search for companies, projects, news and upcoming events efficiently. The site also has a threaded messaging system and a forum section that allows suppliers to negotiate and keep a log of their discussions with the buyers. Other features of the website include its ability to publish video clips and other multimedia files and be properly viewable in mobile and tablet devices (responsive website design), to mention a few.
Certainly, a week-long celebration is only fitting for MIRDC’s 48 years of success; as the agencyhas been successful in molding the future of the metal industries. MIRDC’s success doesn’t stop here, together with their corporate partners, they will continuously support the Metals and Engineering industry with quality service to further enhance its competitive advantage in the global market.
